La Nuit des Musées

A couple of Saturdays ago was the excellent Nuit des Musées, a European-wide festival where museums stay open late and host special events for the occasion.  The night was a real success, with over two million people visiting the participating museums in France. We went on a mission in Paris, starting off at the fashion and design museum Les Docks for a concert in hommage to Balenciaga and a look around the Balenciaga exhibit, then on to Musée Rodin to check out the quirky video installation in the beautiful gardens, and finishing up with a visit to Daniel Buren's exhibition at Le Grand Palais (a venue which welcomed over 16000 cultured nighthawks over the course of the evening).

Check out our adventures in our video and let us know what you thought of La Nuit des Musées in the comments below!

  1. beautifully filmed! although it would have been nice to hear some of the singing in the first part of the night.. I went to the Louvre on the same night but now I wished I went to Musee Rodin instead!

    1. Thanks for your comment and your feedback! We toyed with the idea of including the sound and decided against it in the end, but thanks for letting us know your thoughts. Musée Rodin was really quite special, particularly as we were there at dusk - was very pretty in the gardens - but I'm sure the Louvre was good fun, too!

  2. I was in Paris on the 19th on my first trip there. We also chose Musee Rodin for Museum Night arriving at 6:00 to stand in the rain for an hour. Almost decided not to stay but luckily we did anyway because at 7:00 the rain stopped and the gates opened to the most magical of gardens. To see the sculptures with that evening's lighting was a gift. Your film is beautiful. Being home now, it brought back a treasured memory of an exquisite night. Thank you!

    1. Hi Lois, Thanks for your comment and kind words! Really glad you like the video and that you had an enjoyable nuit des musées (apart from the rain!). We arrived at the Musée Rodin at dusk, and as you can see in the video, it was just beautiful - a great place for you to visit on your first trip to Paris! --Kim
