Marcel

Marcel is one the latest additions to a string of anglo-style eateries in the capital, offering simple British inspired fare and selling a selection of imported goodies such as Marmite and golden syrup. The small corner space, formerly a baker's, gets packed out quickly at weekends but maintains an airy feel due to the large atelier-style windows and clean, no-fuss black decor.  The menu features Rosbif classics such as fish and chips, and even a full English breakfast or the slightly healthier (and admittedly Swiss) bircher muesli on the brunch menu. There are also American favourites such as Caesar Salad, a BLT and a smoked salmon bagel. A great addition to the fab 18th arrondissment!

  3. great find! the food was nice, the decor was cool and i thought the guy working behind the bar was kind of cute, too! :) Plus, I really like that part of Montmartre which is a little less touristy and full of little hidden gems.

  4. I don't want British food when I go on holiday .. but I am sure there are Brits in Paris who would go there ...!!

  5. Linsey, Gail - definitely check it out, there's a great vibe and it's a great brunch option in the area.
Forest - he was kinda cute, wasn't he?!
Anne - yes, perhaps not the first port of call for English people on a weekend in Paris, but great for expats like me who crave a bit of home food now and then!

  8. I wouldn't mind having fish and chips in Paris. I might make the trek up to the 18th to try it.

  10. Yes, it's open on Sundays but only until 6pm. I'm not sure if they have mushy peas though! x

  11. I just had brunch here for the first time! Loved the French approach to anglo fare- with quality ingredienst and portions small enough that I could share a carrot cake with my beau after my ouefs norvegiens (post-brunch desert is definitely not an option in the doggie-bag oriented States) Will definitely go back to try the rest of the menu and have another fresh-squeezed orange juice mimosa!
