La Gaîté Lyrique - Public Domaine Skateboard Culture

La Gaîté Lyrique, Paris' newest cultural centre on the block, is a vast space dedicated to digital creation in all its forms (music, cinema, animation, theatre, dance, visual arts, design..) whilst putting the accent on the link between these disciplines.

Housed in a grand Second Empire building which was formerly the setting for the Theatre de la La Gaîté Lyrique, the space now contrasts old and new with original features being offset with contemporary decor, and hosts concerts, exhibitions and events, as well as having a resource centre, a video game section, a beautiful bar, a cute little cafe and a pretty cool shop

Public Domaine, the Gaîté Lyrique's summer exhibition, explores skateboard culture with a multi-disciplinary approach featuring installation, film, photography around four major themes: Underground, Public Domain, Welcome Home, The Decisive Moment.  Concerts, projections, conferences and a mini skate park are also part of the exhibition.

The last day of this exhibition is today, 7th August and then the Gaîté Lyrique will close for its annual holidays until 4th September. It then re-opens with a bang with a concert from Santigold on 4th September. Check out the rest of the programme here: La Gaîté Lyrique Programme
