L'Illusionniste

When Paris is hot and sweaty like it is at the moment, one of the best places to seek air-conditioned refuge is the cinema. Ninety minutes of cool temperatures in a darkened room is just what you need when the mercury hits the 30s, and all the better if it's in a nice cinema and to watch a brilliant film. My recommendation of the week is Sylvain Chollet's L'Illusioniste, an animated film based on a Jacques Tati screenplay, following a magician at the end of his career, from Paris to London to Edinburgh. Go and see it at MK2 Bibliotheque where the AC is on turbo and the love seats mean you can snuggle up to your movie companion. Warning: you may shed a tear at the ending (or that might just be me).
